Mission Satement and Philosophy

Mission Satement

mariaGuided by the principles of Dr. Maria Montessori, our mission is to create a loving and prepared environment for children ages three to six years where all children are empowered through self-directed activity to express their natural passion to learn and discover.Triangle Montessori Academy provides a child-centered, enriched environment facilitating independent learning and exploration so that children may learn for the love of knowledge.Montessori Quote"In the mysterious period which follows immediately after birth, the child-who is a psychic entity endowed with a specially refined form of sensitiveness - might be regarded as an ego asleep. But all of a sudden he wakes up and hears delicious music; all his fibers begin to vibrate. The baby might think that no other sound had ever reached his ears, but really it was because his soul was not responsive to other sounds. Only human speech had any power to stir him."- The Absorbent Mind :: Clio Press Limited, 1994 :: pp. 199, 120

Philosophy

MontessoriTriangle Montessori Academy is dedicated to and inspired by the principles and ideas of Dr. Maria Montessori. Dr. Montessori (1870-1952), the first woman to be trained as a physician in Italy, developed a comprehensive method of early education based on years of observation and study of young children. She wondered what would happen if the many extraordinary means for educating special needs children at that time could be applied toward the education of all children. Many recent innovations in education are based on these principles. Dr. Montessori found that children have a special desire and capacity to learn at a very young age. Her approach recognizes that young children progress through special stages of learning, each at his or her own pace, and those children of different ages will teach and learn from one another. Triangle Montessori Academy’s goal is to educate the whole individual through the Montessori approach which addresses the intellectual, emotional, social and physical needs of each child. The philosophy of our school community is the encouragement of the child’s curiosity and interest, and the development of responsible, independent thinking that fosters a life-long love of learning.
