Chidren's House ( Casa Dei Bambini)
Our integrated Enrichment programs offer anabundance of value in education for our students. Full Day/Kindergarten Children attend the Kindergarten program from 9:00 AM- 2:00 PM. At 12:00 PM, the students will enjoy a home brought lunch with their peers and spend more time socializing.Kindergarten year in the Montessori environment is full of excitement. During this year, children use the Montessori materials to explore topics such as reading, writing, mathematical calculations, geography, science, and art.In small groups, children read chapter books aloud and discuss them with their classmates. After lunch, children who are interested will learn to play on the recorder and sing the “sol-fa” based on the Kodaly method.Lower Elementary Children in our Lower Elementary program relish mixed-age classes (grades one, two, and three) and a three-year cycle of study. They learn abstract concepts by working with Montessori materials. Lessons involve self discipline which enhances the student’s ability to concentrate. With a low student/teacher ratio and with the help of assistants, a teacher can administer diligent attention to each student, and can determine a student’s learning style and interests. Prior attendance at a Montessori program is not a prerequisite for admission to the Lower Elementary program. |

Children's House (Casa dei Bambini) is a multi-age two and a half-year cycle that includes children aged two and a half through five. Children experience an academically enriched environment within a well-ordered social community. The choice of environment and age-range is based on the principle that children in these years learn and develop in a way that is unique to this age. The distinctive characteristic of the Montessori Primary Program is that the classroom encompasses areas of learning and socializing that are designed to foster independence, concentration, self-motivation and a love of learning.Essential to the emphasis on independence and self-motivation is the fact that the materials in the Primary classroom are accessible to the children. They are free to choose activities appropriate to their level and develop at their own pace.Montessori quote: "The characteristic of children under 6 years of age is that it is almost impossible to teach them; children of this age cannot take from a teacher. Therefore they are considered to be too young to go to school and therefore education does not begin until 6 years of age. Another characteristic of this age is that the children know and understand a great deal. They are full of knowledge. This would seem to be a contradiction, but the truth is that these children must take knowledge by themselves from the environment."- The Child, Society and the World :: Clio Press, 1998 :: p. 44
